Nurse Manager Job Description

Objectives of the position: The Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing and performing ultrasound scans and other medical services to patients. This is a permanent, part time position.

Reports to:     Executive Director (ED)

Supervises:   The Nurse Manager oversees the clinic medical volunteers.

  6. Exhibit excellent skills in interpersonal communication, problem solving, and Biblical conflict resolution.
  7. Exhibit excellent organizational and time management skills.
  8. Be able to carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  9. Comply with the policies and procedures of the Clinic.
  10. Be willing to complete Patient Advocacy training.
  11. Be willing to complete additional training as required.
  12. Have experience as a volunteer in a ministry.
  13. Have experience in a position involving management of volunteers or employees.
  14. Be a licensed R.N., P.A., or Nurse Practitioner in good standing with the Utah State Medical Board.


  1. Preferred experience in OB/GYN and/or ER.
  2. Preferred experience with HIPPA and OSHA regulations.
  3. Preferred familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  4. Basic competence in medical Spanish is a plus.
  5. Experience with performing ultrasounds is a plus.


Patient Care:

  1. Oversee nursing services in clinic.
  2. Meet with patient and review patient instructions for medical services and the medical procedure.
  3. Record and review patient medical history.
  4. Place physician order and exam report in patient chart.
  5. Provide support for other medical staff and volunteers, including chaperoning exams when needed.
  6. Meet with patient after exam to answer medical related questions.
  7. Maintain accurate records and follow-through on physician’s orders.
  8. Maintain a working knowledge of nursing methods, principles, and practices in relation to the prevention and treatment of disease, and safety and infection control.


  1. Work with Center Director and Medical Director to implement and evaluate the medical department’s policies, goals, and objectives.
  2. Participate in the development and modification of center’s programs.
  3. Ensure compliance with OSHA & HIPPA guidelines.
  4. Debrief with medical volunteers, Patient Advocates and Center Director regarding patient care.
  5. Recruit and train qualified medical volunteers with the Center Director.
  6. In conjunction with the Medical Director, provide annual CPR review, infection and control regulations, and in-services for staff and appropriate volunteers.
  7. Inventory medical supplies and equipment.
  8. Provide annual reviews and written and oral evaluation of medical volunteers.

Professional Development:

  1. Maintains professional license in Utah.
  2. Increase knowledge of management, obstetrical, gynecological care and patient health issues.
  3. Works as a team member with the rest of the clinic staff, helping out as directed by Executive Director wherever there is a need, time permitting.
  4. Be willing to help represent the clinic in the community.
  5. Be willing to view and participate in webinars for ongoing training.
  6. Pays careful attention to self-care, talking with Center Director about a self-care plan.
  7. Be willing to learn and perform miscellaneous other duties as requested by the ED and/or CD.

The Nurse Manager will have regular job performance reviews, every 30 days for 6 months and  annually thereafter, with the Executive Director.
